Then you have the opportunity to be the new Director of Operations at HOUNÖ.

As Director of Operations, you will get a key role in defining the strategic direction and upscaling Operations including Production, Quality and Supply Chain. You are offered management responsibilities of department managers while supporting the scaling of an international market leader focusing on developing a professional Procurement team.

what is expected of you as director of operations?

You will report directly to the CEO and lead the ambitious teams of Production, Quality and Supply Chain from the company headquarters in Randers, Denmark. This involves sharing your knowledge with and guiding the managers of the teams with an open and transparent dialogue.

As an experienced Procurement professional, you will take the lead on defining, executing and developing a comprehensive supply chain strategy that will allow the site to cost-effectively scale the business. You are offered the unique opportunity to be a part of a growth journey and influence optimization processes related to digitalization and streamlining. You will oversee all aspects of Production, Quality and Supply Chain while being an active part of the top management team, where you will be a significant contributor in setting the strategic direction of the company.

your responsibilities

You are responsible for direct activities of all functions involved in purchasing, planning, production, warehousing and quality, from forecasting to the delivery of the finished high-quality product and delivery
of products. In addition, you will:

- Implement a fully functional supply chain management/production control infrastructure in order to effectively manage logistics and resources across the workforce
- Source, develop, and maintain vendor relationships including those providing alternative sources of supply
- Be accountable for overall production planning and execution
- Coach and mentor employees in maintaining excellence on good production practice, quality control, and safety
- Establish, together with the department managers, performance metrics and benchmarks.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets accordingly
You can expect to travel approx. 20-30 days per year, mainly to suppliers and technology partners.

your competencies

You have excellent stakeholder management and communication skills when establishing trustworthy relations to customers, peers, superiors, and potential clients without compromising on company objectives. In addition, you recognize yourself in the following:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Business or Supply Chain Management and/or equivalent experience
- Strong experience within Procurement combined with a sufficient business acumen
- Knowledge of modern production technology and logistics concepts (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, etc.)
- Strategic mindset with an ability to create cost-effective solutions and lift an organization from an operational to a strategic level
- Experience in change management, planning/organizing, managing execution, and revising the work plan for complex problems
- Advanced oral and written communications skills in English and Danish

- Able to create trusting relationships with your teams and across the organization

1977 was the year when the two Houmøller brothers, Svend and Hans Jørgen, built their first combi oven in Randers, Denmark. The idea of making the combi oven first saw its peak of daylight, when success at Svend’s blooming restaurant meant the need for bigger kitchen ovens. None of the industrial ovens on the market at that time suited his needs. So the brothers decided to build their very own combi oven starting in Hans Jørgen’s garage.

With a solid background in engineering, Hans Jørgen had the skills to develop and lay out the technical foundation for what later became HOUNÖ’s first combi oven. Later on, Hans Jørgen was never shy to admit that the first prototype was not the prettiest but worked perfectly.

HOUNÖ has long since outgrown the small garage, and resides in a 3.200 m2 manufacturing site still located in Randers making it a strong part of their Danish DNA. And the rest is history.
With more than 45 years of experience in the combi oven industry, HOUNÖ has continued to develop a strong knowhow within innovation and IoT in the combi oven industry. As a result, engineering remains a strong backbone at the HOUNÖ known today where quality, functionality combined with elegant Danish design is the essence of their products. In 2006, HOUNÖ was acquired by the American Middleby Corporation providing professional foodservice and food processing equipment worldwide.
