On behalf of Carlsberg Group, Randstad is looking for an Indirect Tax Manager or Indirect Tax Specialist from specialist to senior level. Would you like to work with an area that impacts almost all transactions made by the Carlsberg Group? Then we have an exciting role where you can make use of your skills and work at a strategic level with all aspects of indirect taxes. The position is located in Copenhagen, alternatively Poznan or Ziegelbrücke.

About the position

Indirect taxes constitute a significant cost in the Carlsberg Group. Almost all their products are subject to various excise duties, and they pay approx. DKK25bn every year to the national authorities around the globe. Further to this, the flow through VAT/GST constitutes +DKK45bn a year. Therefore your work in this position will have a great impact on the company, all the way from product development to the happy consumer.

Carlsberg are currently updating their Indirect Tax Vision to ensure a greater alignment with the strategic priorities and business agenda for the Carlsberg Group and to further strengthen the compliance of indirect taxes. In this matter, you will take part in exciting projects and process development within this key area.

Thus, they have embarked on a journey in relation to indirect taxes where they are:

• Transforming their global tax organization ensuring a closer connection and corporation between Group Tax, Regional Tax Functions, the Local Tax Experts, and the tax teams in the Shared Service Centers, a transformation initiated in 2021 and continuing in the coming years
• Looking into how technology and automation can support their compliance, e.g. by a Tax Engine, reporting tools, etc.
• Striving to strengthen their business partner role and get a closer collaboration with the entire organization providing the relevant indirect tax insight for efficient and value creating decision making
• Seeking to strengthen their compliance by creating a global Tax Design Book with all relevant indirect tax processes and ensuring they have the needed framework to support the compliance (process descriptions, internal controls, clear roles & responsibilities, training, knowledge sharing, etc.)

In this respect, we/Carlsberg? have an open position in Group Tax where you and the Head of Indirect Taxes will drive the above agenda in close collaboration with the local, regional, and central tax functions.

The daily operations of indirect taxes are managed by their shared service centers and the local indirect tax specialists, so this position is leaning more into development, strategy and business partnering.

In the Indirect Tax Team in Group Tax, they are amongst others responsible for:

• Supporting Carlsberg's ongoing development of products and activities in respect to areas that matters commercially, financially and in relation to reputation, e.g.
• Actively participating in transactions that expand and supplement the core activities such as acquisitions, joint ventures, and divestments
• Proactively supporting Carlsberg's social targets in respect to sustainability and corporate responsibility
• Building and maintaining a structure for the indirect tax management of the core activities by ensuring that the Group has the required framework and technology to be compliant in an efficient and effective manner in accordance with legislation, digital requirements, etc.
• Providing strategical insight to the local, regional, and central tax functions to support compliance and the day-to-day operation.

Your capabilities

We are looking for a candidate with an insight into VAT, excise duties and/or customs duties and a wish to explore all types of indirect taxes from a global perspective.

You may currently be in a junior position with only a few years of working experience with e.g. VAT but with the motivation to expand your knowledge to excise duties, and you welcome a steep learning curve. You may also be in a senior position with many years of experience and the wish to have your own area of responsibility, the possibility to initiate and steer your own projects, and the chance to influence the indirect tax agenda in the Carlsberg Group.

Whether you have worked with indirect taxes for a few years or many years is not that relevant as the qualifications can be developed along the way. As a starting point, they envisage that you will have the following responsibilities:

• Focusing on excise duties, and other local duties
• Accountable for monitoring of and assistance with the implementation of new digital compliance requirements
• Ensuring that the framework for managing indirect taxes is updated and optimized
• Engaging with the business providing day-to-day advisory

However, depending on your background they will scope the position, so it suits your qualifications. Given the significant footprint of excise duties in Carlsberg, they do expect you to work with excise duties to some extent.

You will be part of an international team and get to work with colleagues and external stakeholders from all over the world, consequently you must be fluent in English (spoken and written).
