You will join the Operations department, which consists of overall production, facilities, supply chain and quality. The position is based in Hobro, Denmark. You will be offered a strategic role with management responsibilities while supporting the expansion of a global sustainable organization.
your responsibilities as operations director
As Operations Director, you will have a strategic role and you will be responsible for leading, managing and developing the Operations Department consisting of four managers and 48 employees. You will also be a part of the Regional Leadership in Denmark and Europe.
As Operations Director, you make sure to develop long-term strategic plans for the Operations Department and oversee the activities of the overall production, facilities, supply chain and quality with the aim of ensuring a department that is performing efficiently and effectively across functions to support company goals.
You are responsible for identifying business opportunities that fit into the overall strategy of Ballard Power Systems Europe, and your goal is to seek to maximize these opportunities for the benefit of the organization. Therefore, you will also ensure that KPIs and targets are achieved within the Operations Department.
In addition, you will be responsible for:
- Participating in the Regional Leadership Team and in the longer term the Global Team
- Implementing policies and procedures that will improve long-term and day-to-day operations
- Optimizing and establishing metrics, guidelines, and standards to evaluate and identify opportunities for the business to grow
- Creating reviews and analyses and evaluating business procedures and reporting to Canada regarding the business in Hobro
- Negotiating with suppliers in cooperation with the Supply Chain Manager
- Participating in hiring and developing the department managers
your qualifications
In order to succeed as Operations Director, you have a solid knowledge of how a global European business runs in order to lead and work on the growth of the operations teams. You have a Degree in production engineering, construction management, business administration, project management, engineering, or the equivalent.
In addition, you can offer the following qualifications:
- Experience from a similar role at a senior management level working with a broad value scope within Production, Supply Chain and the whole Value Chain (quality, logistics and procurement)
- Experience working in a global matrix organization
- Experience with scaling a manufacturing department at a strategic level
- Experience from a relevant industry, for example automotive, fuel cells, wind energy, is considered an advantage
- Solid people management skills
- Fluent in both Danish and English
