Tetra Pak Processing Systems A/S (Tetra Pak Ice Cream) – the world´s leading supplier of machinery and lines for production, treatment and packaging of ice cream products – is looking for a Software Automation Designer to take on the role as automation product specialist for their extrusion product portfolio.

The Automation Engineering Team, located in Aarhus, Denmark, is a competent and innovative team of 20 colleagues who are responsible for the development and design of automation solutions for production equipment in the ice cream industry.

As a product automation specialist, your daily tasks will be of a technical nature but will also include coordination within your area of expertise. You will be the go-to specialist for the product manager and sales organization. With your specialist knowledge, you will help make sales calculations and support your colleagues worldwide with trouble shooting and commissioning.

Some of the responsibilities of the automation designer and automation product specialist will, among others, be as follows:

  • Design, development and implementation of PLC based software solutions for our equipment
  • Continuous improvements of the existing software solutions and version management of the code base
  • Planning for product team on projects and technical tasks (in cooperation with line manager)
  • Defining and executing automation roadmap in own area together with product manager
  • Verifying software solutions and validating functionality of equipment
  • Supporting sales with cost calculations and evaluation of technical solutions
  • Keeping overall contact within the organization throughout all phases of our projects
  • Maintaining regular contact with colleagues from Tetra Pak's global market companies and customers for technical/commercial support.
  • Commissioning and troubleshooting via remote connection or at customer site
  • Providing and securing inputs to technical documentation and manuals

qualifications

To succeed in this role, it is important to be a very competent technician with top-notch interpersonal skills. You have strong communication skills – the ability to interact with people, be it stakeholders, colleagues or customers, is essential. We also see some of the main criteria to become a success in this role as follows:

  • Professional engineer with knowledge of electrical, automation and/or control engineering
  • Minimum B.Sc. level degree in the field of Engineering or similar
  • More than 5 years' of experience in development and design of modular automation solutions, preferably in the food processing industry
  • Work experience on PLC platforms such as Siemens S7, TIA Portal and/or Allen Bradley
  • Solid knowledge of functional safety, motion, mechatronics and network topology
  • An embedded passion for keeping yourself up-to-date on the latest trends in industrial automation
  • Proficiency in the Danish AND English language is required
  • Willingness to travel 10-20 days/year

As a person you are a problem solver (analytical, systematic and structured) with a strong personal drive and have the ability to delegate tasks while still keeping a cool overview.
