about the job

As Senior Project Manager at GomSpace, you will be responsible for executing and managing extensive and complex projects for international clients, comprising commercial entities, government bodies and defense organizations. The position is pivotal to GomSpace’s project organization, and the potential to grow the business and optimize project deliveries is massive.

You will become part of the Programs Business Unit and it is your job to estimate, plan and deliver on key objectives in close collaboration with management, the project staff, our Products and Manufacturing organization as well as several other key stakeholders.

You will be responsible for 1-2 projects at a time that typically span over the course of 1 to 2.5 years. Depending on the scope and complexity of the project, 5-30 colleagues will be involved. You will help setting up the project team, which includes disciplines like system and software engineers, assembly and integration specialists, mechanical and electrical engineers, manufacturing, radio engineers, Operations and Quality Assurance.

Responsibilities include:
• Project management of high-scale technical space projects and space missions
• Managing contract, contractual goals, terms, and changes, including alignment with customers
• Project, budget and resource management as well as stakeholder management, including project status reporting
• Ensuring timely project deliverables of agreed quality
• Leading and managing combined agile and ‘classic’ projects, following the GomSpace Project Model – including contributions to project model improvements
• Managing the company internal touchpoints in other Business Units and at other geographical locations
• Participation in bid & proposal activities
• Coaching and guidance of non-senior project managers

This position is based in Denmark. Travel activity may occur and will be limited to a maximum of 20 days per year. We welcome international applicants.

To succeed in the role, several years of experience with project management from a related field and a sound commercial understanding are required. We prefer that you bring experience as a technical engineer from your previous career, and that you have a sound technical understanding and curiosity. An interest in new space technology and technology trends in general are also important to succeed as well as enjoy being a part of the company.

Qualifications:
• Relevant educational background in engineering, e.g. in systems, software, hardware or related
• Great communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience with long term and technically complex projects
• A combined commercial and technological understanding and ability to bridge between the two
• Self-motivated – able to lead and show the way – able to listen – able to decide – able to find solutions
• An advantage if you have a certification in IPMA, PMP or PRINCE2 as documentation of your project management skills
• An understanding of how to manage a project financially and apply Earned Value Management principles
