Are you a skilled and experienced Systems Engineer with a passion for the international space industry and cutting-edge technology? Would you like to contribute to teams and missions with advanced technology in a company known for its exceptional in-orbit performance? Then you might be exactly who we are looking for.
...
This position is an opportunity for you to become part of an organization where not even the sky's the limit – you will be aiming for the universe!
You will have the opportunity to become part of an internationally oriented and dedicated team aiming at providing exceptional and innovative small-satellite solutions to customers on the global market. Your goals will be driven by your own development, and you will be given the autonomy to lead others in the same direction.
about the job
As Senior Systems Engineer at GomSpace, you will be responsible for spacecraft systems design. The senior position entails taking the technical lead, mentoring and guiding junior colleagues in the development and later operations of spacecrafts, as well as interacting with clients on technical capabilities and consulting.
The role has a broad technical span, meaning that you will be involved in the various disciplines from spacecraft requirements definition, e.g. mission, system and subsystems levels, to in-space commissioning. This includes hardware and software designs, integration, power budgets, mechanical design, manufacturing, etc., naturally in a close collaboration with specialized colleagues in each field.
You will join the Programs Business Unit, working with extensive and complex projects for international clients, comprising commercial entities, government bodies and defense organizations. Your role is a key position both internally and commercially to successfully deliver the clients’ mission. There will be a continuous focus on optimization and collaboration with other departments and business units within GomSpace.
Responsibilities include:
• Mission and spacecraft system architecture and design for a variety of mission types (both in terms of platform size as well as orbit)
• Technical consulting with international customers and suppliers
• Technical lead and “go to” person for satellite projects throughout all the project phases
• Preparing documentation according to applied space engineering standards
• Coaching and guidance of non-senior engineers
• Technical involvement in all aspects of mission and spacecraft design, from requirement management to spacecraft integration and verification
• Being involved in both high-level design and hands-on development and implementation
• Managing internal and external interfaces (payload, ground segment, launcher, etc.)
• Providing technical solutions to customers in collaboration with sales and engineering
• Collaborate with company internal counterparts in other Business Units and at other geographical locations
This position is based in Denmark. Travel activity may occur and will be limited to a maximum of 15 days per year. We welcome international applicants.
your profile
As a person, you possess a strong drive and determination to invest in the team’s success and deliver advanced high-quality solutions. You are committed to the tasks at hand and to the overall goals of the company. Furthermore, you are eager to learn and embrace the collaborative nature of GomSpace. You thrive in an agile environment that is characterized by innovation and new technologies.
To succeed in the role, several years of experience with highly complex system design is required. We prefer experience with spacecraft design, but related fields such as defense systems, radio communication, and signal intelligence are also considered relevant.
An educational background in aerospace engineering, software engineering, electrical engineering, system design or similar is also required in order to fill the position.
An interest in new space technology and technology trends in general are also important to both succeed and enjoy being a part of GomSpace. Perhaps you are specialized in one of the aforementioned fields today but have an interest in expanding your range of responsibilities.
Qualifications:
• Knowledge of space systems: Strong understanding of space systems, including satellites, spacecrafts, launch vehicles, and related technologies
• Systems engineering skills: Proficiency in systems engineering principles and methodologies, such as requirements analysis, system architecture, integration, verification, and validation
• Programming and scripting: Depending on the specific role, familiarity with programming languages or scripting languages may be beneficial (e.g. Python, Matlab)
• CAD and mission tools: SOLIDOWRKS, STK, GMAT or similar
• Analytical skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex technical challenges
• Strong quality awareness: Understanding of quality assurance processes and standards in the aerospace industry.
• Risk Management: Ability to identify and mitigate risks associated with space missions or projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders
• The ability to work both independently and in a team environment, in cooperation with systems and subsystems engineers in multidisciplinary teams
• Experience in customer-facing and explaining complicated technologies in easily understandable terms.
Previous experience with delivering work according to ESA ECSS or similar NASA standards is considered an asset.
